About Hour of AI
Hour of AI is a global learning initiative by Code.org. Building on the success of Hour of Code, Hour of AI is designed to help students and educators take their first step into understanding and creating with artificial intelligence.
Through short, hands-on, and easy-to-follow activities, Hour of AI helps learners explore how AI works, how it affects everyday life, and how to use technology safely and responsibly.
Our Hour of AI Activity
As part of Hour of AI, we are conducting an activity titled:
Deepfakes And Scams – Protect Yourself
This activity helps students understand what deepfakes are, how AI can copy someone’s face or voice, and how fake videos, voice notes, or messages can be used to spread misinformation, harm others, bully someone, or trick people into sharing money, OTPs, or personal information.
Students will learn and practice a simple online safety method: Pause – Check – Report

What Students Will Learn
By completing this Hour of AI activity, students will learn:
- What deepfakes are
- How AI can copy a person’s face or voice
- Why fake videos and messages can be risky
- How deepfakes can be used in scams, bullying, or misinformation
- How to identify suspicious online content
- How to use the Pause, Check, Report method
- Why it is important to speak to a trusted adult before reacting or sharing
Key Message
Not every video, voice note, or message online is real.
Before believing or sharing something shocking, students should stop, verify it, and report it to a trusted adult if they are unsure.
Pause – Check – Report
Step 1: Pause
If you receive a shocking video, voice note, or message, do not believe it immediately.
Take a moment before reacting, forwarding, or sharing it with others.
Step 2: Check
Ask yourself:
- Does this message seem real?
- Is this news available on a trusted website?
- Does the video look unnatural?
- Are the face edges blurred?
- Is the lip-sync incorrect?
- Does the voice sound unusual?
- Is someone asking for money, OTP, or personal details?
Step 3: Report
If you are unsure, show the content to a trusted adult.
You can report it to:
- Your parent or guardian
- Your class teacher
- Your school counsellor
- Another trusted adult at home or school
Do not make the decision alone.
